Well, as an homage to Kermit we’ve rebranded our site to celebrate all things green. So have a nose about the site (and please tell us if you find anything that’s not working – we”ll fix it (and blame Guy) and enjoy.

And should you read anything into this? Well, only that we like green. And Kermit.

Oh, and there’s more to come, some do check back – we’ve got plans…

Mike is up the mountains and has just taken these. I mean, it’s alright I suppose – if you like that kind of thing…

More from Mike…

Well, Mike is already up the mountain working for TeleVerbier on the lifts as part of the team getting them ready for the winter.

Now, naturally that’s important work, just not as important as the fact it means he can get photos first thing in the morning of the fresh snow.

Apparently it’s very cloudy up there at the moment so he’s going to send more photos later today when it clears, but meanwhile here’s a shot from up at Ruinettes this morning, where either the thermometer is broken or it’s even chillier than we thought…

Snow update:

Mike’s just snapped these beauties up at Ruinette when the clouds cleared…

Yes, it’s that time of year again. The last weekend in September is when the cows come down off the high pastures for the winter and all over the Alps the locals celebrate with a massive party.

Now, how they celebrate differs, but here in the Vel de Bagnes the celbration is done through the medium of cheese. Raclette to be precise, as they inveneted it here.

And as adopted locals we try to help out by eating lots of cheese and making sure they run out of Fendant. So we had another sophisticated evening in Le Chable (very much like last year – see the pictures here)

And if you want to get more details have a look here.

Meanwhile, here’s the evidence…

And by the way, it snowed last night all the way down to resort.

OK, we didn’t need to dig out the cars and wear down jackets, but it’s been snowing in resort this morning and settling just a tad above Verbier, as this shaky picture proves…

Yup, snow is falling as I type up at  Atelas and on the Savoleyres ridge, meanwhile tonight is eighties night in the T-Bar – it’s almost like winter’s already here, with the cold weather and people dressing up like idiots again…

Anyway, do you know what tomorrow is? Cheese Day. OK, it’s actually really the Bagnes Fete de Raclette to celebrate the cows coming down off the high pasture and also celebrate the fact that our proud little valley invented raclette. I know, a great claim eh?

Essentially, however, tomorrow is a cheese and Fendant orgy.

Anyway, here are some shots of the snow as the clouds parted and duck fell…
