It’s half term but you know what? It’s not really that busy. Ok. It’s not quiet either but apart from a little weekend chaos yesterday we haven’t even been queuing that much.

Which all means we can nip up Tortin without contending with monster lift lines. Epic, as you might say.

It started dumping in Verbier in the wee small hours and it’s looking promising up there. How much? Well we’ll let you know later…

Yes, epicness is a word. I myself invented it, and I invented it somewhere that looks a lot like this.

That’s because today was an amazing day in Verbier and whilst we weren’t in knee deep powder it was simply stunning and the skiing was great. Because you don’t need powder to enjoy great ski days. You just need views like these…

 

Of course, there aren’t two Gareths. Just one and that’s plenty. But we went for a little ski today and it was, as we have become slightly predictable in saying, EPIC.

There has been some snow and some wind and all that, and if you drop off the sides of things you can find some really good snow (call Powder Extreme and they can show you where) but most importantly it’s sunny, clear and everything looks pretty.

There are a lot more photos to come, although none utilise the iPhone’s new panorama photos to quite as amusing effect as this one. So enjoy it while you can.

It’s so cold on Les Essertes I refuse to type any more.

The snow fell yesterday and the night before like it was going out of fashion, and this morning the clouds had gone leaving behind views and snow that can only be described as “above average”.

So with resort pretty quiet (despite the influx of weekend warriors) it’s a stunning day on the hill and there’s forty odd centimeters of fresh up there.

The forecast looks like there might be more coming but we’re quite happy to have a few days of cold, clear, sunny days again. After all, that’s what January is all about.
