Yes, just as everyone is starting to trot out their shorts and get sunburnt, the weather has turned rather iffy and it’s throwing down snow.
Now, I’m in Austria right now, but the news from Verbier is snow up top but not in the resort. But I’m not too worried as there are forecasts for as much as a meter of fresh on the glacier here in Hintertux so a soggy Verbier doesn’t worry me too much…

UPDATE…
Yes, snow is falling in Verbier. I know, ironic, eh?

ANOTHER UPDATE…
Yes, snow is settling in Verbier… And Toby’s snapped it…
We haven’t actually been able to combine those two words for a while. We’ve certainly had sunshine, and occasionally snow. But yesterday we had the very unusual experience of the two together. It’s actually alright, you know…
But there’s more good news – the sunshine has gone away this morning and it’s been snowing again. And up at Carlsberg it looks like this…
It’s been snowing again and we managed to not only get up Mont Fort – where there was about 40 cm and not a breath of wind – but we also skied the Gentianes itinerary just as the cloud broke. And it was rather nice. And made all the nicer by the knowledge everyone else in Verbier couldn’t see more than ten feet in front of them…
Yup, snow came back yesterday and the sun came back today. OK it’s not two feet of fresh but it’s made a massive difference to resort – both by topping up the pistes and by transforming the mood of everyone here…
And the forecasts are all suggesting more coming Thursday and next weekend. Now, we know you’re too pragatic to be easily excited by long range forecasts, so enjoy the pictures and you can be sure we’ll keep you posted if any more arrives.
(PS blame iPhone if the quality of a couple of the snaps is a bit dodgy).
Yes, your prayers have been answered – we’ve got snow and it’s looking like more than anyone was forecasting. So cross your fingers that it keeps going tomorrow… And, on that note, we’ll get a load more pictures for you and blog them in all their glory tomorrow too.
