A quick look at the webcams this morning and we can see that the filthy rain and thunder that rolled through last night has left snow up top. Admittedly none in town. Yet. But good news indeed and we’re all a little excited.

Yes, after a bit of a cold and soggy weekend, we’ve woken this morning to snow capped mountains and the kind of scenes you expect in a ski resort. And it’s a welcome return to the odd wintery view, if you ask me.

So, I’ve had a quick wander round so you can see for yourself. It’s quite nice although I do really think I should get a  slightly better camera…

Well, I know it’s not nice to gloat, but our office looks like this and it’s brilliant. Gloat over. Sorry.

Yup, snow has kept coming all night and there’s about 20cm around Place Central – these were just the snaps I got between my flat and the T-Bar. But the cars coming down from the top of town look like they’ve got closer to a foot of snow on the roofs. We’ll wait to hear from Mike about the top of the lift…

Mike’s up update from Ruinettes…

As if by magic, while I was sitting here in T-Bar typing away, Mike has just sent down these from Ruinettes. 38cm exactly according to him. But who knows how much up top at Attelas…

Once again the intrepid Mike is up early and has sent these pictures of first light up the mountain. Looking absolutely stunning up there – probably worth Mike getting up so early…

Meanwhile, rumours of early opening are racing around town. We’ll bring you more on them later in the week once we can get a few things corroborated. In the meantime, enjoy the view.

And some more of the same…

Clouds have cleared and you’d swear it was already winter…

Well, our man on the hill is already up at Lac des Vaux and they’re installing the snow machines this morning with the helicopter. Story is they’re anticipating an early opening this season…

Meanwhile, if you missed snow up there the other day click here for a dose of snowy pictures.
