Yes, Guy’s following up on his dreams of becoming some kind of celebrity weather guru by talking to the nice people at the Sunday Times.

Of course had they asked about what was to come this week, they’d have been very happy to hear it’s going to snow on Thursday and Friday. How much? Well, somewhere between a bit and a lot, depending on who you ask. It keeps changing you see.

If you were to ask us, maybe 20cm at mid station. (That’s a total guess so click here for a more accurate figure).

Weather report Verbier

I know, it takes a while to get to Bruson. It’s not like hopping over to Savoleyres. But when you do it’s brilliant – like you’re in a tiny resort miles from anywhere and the crowds and queues you get in Verbier are very quickly forgotton.

And it’s especially useful when Verbier close because of too much snow or high winds. Which is precisely why happened yesterday and how we ended up there…

Meanwhile the snow is falling heavily again and I get the feeling tomorrow might be very interesting – loads of snow but probably a lot of wind and not a lot open.

Yes, the double whammy of a snow storm hitting and the new Performance outfits arriving back from the printers can only be an omen. Winter is here and it means business.

So here are the first glimpses of the new outfits, leaving behind the old green and yellow Kermit style and bringing in a whole new era of brightness that means when we sit on lifts together it looks like a packet of refreshers going up a mountain. Rather disconcerting.

But we hope you like it. We’re rather pleased with the combination…

And the even better news is that the sun popped it’s head out once or twice today but the cloud has kept all that nice fresh snow exactly where it is (on the trees and on the pistes) and it’s snowed on and off all day.

And – even better than that (if you feel you can cope) is that all the forecasts have upped their predicted snow fall for the coming days. Could be epic.

Yes, it looks like we haven’t got any skiing in store this weekend as there’s not enough snow at the top, but we are forecast some this weekend and there are all sorts of swirling menacing things somewhere over the Atlantic and they should be heading our way soonish. Hopefully a lot and soon.

But what we do have is a list of the lift opening times for this season, which is rather handy. And it takes our minds off the fact we’re not going to be skiing this weekend…

Yes, as predicted the sun is back out and revealing the extent of the snow.

Now RHS will get all cynical and tell you it’ll never last. He’s probably right. But whether or not it stays in Verbier doesn’t matter. What matters is that there’s a decent amount at lac des Vaux… Ready for November 5th…

A quick look at the webcams this morning and we can see that the filthy rain and thunder that rolled through last night has left snow up top. Admittedly none in town. Yet. But good news indeed and we’re all a little excited.
