Mike called me yesterday – for those of you who don’t know, Mike works for Televerbier in the summer fixing the lifts. Anyway, he told me that he and the Televerbier team who’ve been making up the lift parts in Sembrancher were meeting the helicopter pilot at Ruinettes at 7.30 this morning to organise flying in the new pylons.

Well, I’ve told a few people and they all say “they haven’t even put the pylons up yet?”. But actually (Mike says) tha the real work is building the top and bottom installations, and the pylons simply get built elsewhere, flown in and bolted down. Easy…

So today we should hear a whopping helicopter hovering up by Au Mayen and see the new lift really take shape. Should be up and running some time in early December…

Parts for Verbier's new lift

The snow’s coming down in town and the forecast is for it to keep going all day. Which nearly makes up for the act we were due a load more on Friday but there’s high pressure moving north over the Med which has scuppered things. (Now, that’s a pretty geeky answer but we know you only deal in the cold hard facts).

Still, it’s pretty relentless snow this morning so cross something for us…

Meanwhile it’s been baltic in resort the last few days, but it’s also been blue skies and looking stunning. This stunning in fact:

Snow update…

Here are a couple of snaps in town this morning but we’ve also just been told they’ve got over a foot of fresh down by Lake Geneva (cheers Rob – and everyone else have a read of his splendid blog).

Well, while we were sitting in the office it would appear that Felix was letting the rest of the team have fun. Unscheduled fun actually.

Meanwhile it’s also been pretty in town…

Whilst Nicol and I both decided that skiing on Friday in the rain was a great idea, Rich and Gina decided to go up on Saturday. OK there were plenty more humans up there but there was also a reason for this – it was sunny and beautiful. As you can see (morally, of course, Nicol and I still win because we got up there first , despite being a little soggier).
